Gemstone Spinner Ring Workshop

£15.00 - £135.00

Who doesn't love a spinner ring? You might love them because you are a fidget or because you love how they look, either way, you can make your very own with your choice of gemstone and finish during this class.

Join me in this silver ring making class where you will learn to make a spinner ring with a wide band and one gemstone spinner. The spinner can be made in sterling silver or you can upgrade to 14ct gold-filled. Please select the additional payment for gold filled spinner at checkout, I will only have gold-filled wire and settings available if you pre-order them. I have a variety of texturing hammers and stamps plus a range of 4mm gemstones, ensuring you can make your spinner ring unique to you.

Gold filled wire has a base metal core surrounded in a thick layer of 14ct gold, giving you gold to wear but for a more reasonable price. It’s a much thicker layer of gold than gold plating, making it more durable and your creations should remain looking good for years to come.

Whilst this Edinburgh based jewellery experience is aimed at confident beginners and experience in using a jewellery saw is preferable, it is not essential as I will lead you through all the steps to make this ring.

It is an ideal follow on class if you have attended my stacking rings, gemstone ring or bangle classes previously.

Participants must be 16 or over and under 18 accompanied by an adult. Each workshop has a maximum of 5 people, you can book as an individual or a group. You will leave the class with your own handmade sterling silver spinner ring.

During the class I will cover:

- identifying your ring size
- shaping and forming the rings
- sawing
- soldering
- filing and sanding for a beautiful finish
- annealing
- adding texture
- dapping
- polishing
- stone setting using a pre-made setting.

The price includes the sterling silver required to make the silver spinner ring with one gemstone spinner (an additional payment applies to gold-filled spinners). You may wish to bring an apron to wear, although it’s not essential. If you wear glasses for reading, remember to bring them, the class includes lots of close up work.

We will have a tea and coffee break and some yummy homemade cake.

Who is your tutor

I have been working full time as a jeweller since 2009 and enjoy teaching as a way to support my practice. In my previous career, I worked in a role conducting training courses and I love the ability to combine both skill sets. I keep my classes small at a maximum of 5 participants so I have time to support you individually. I like my classes to be a fun, informative and creative environment, I hope you enjoy your workshop!
