Make your own Russian Mini Necklace or Russian Ring/Maxi Necklace - 3.5 hour workshop

Join me in class to make this wonderfully tactile necklace or ring with interlocked rings which are so fidget-friendly, The rings loop and spin around each other keeping restless hands occupied. They also happen to look stunning too!

This Edinburgh based jewellery experience is a beginner level workshop, equally suited to complete beginners or someone who has attended one of my classes previously. Participants must be 16 or over and under 18 accompanied by an adult. Each workshop has a maximum of 4 people, you can book as an individual or a group. You will leave the class with a mini necklace or ring/maxi necklace.

During the class you will learn how to make five rings which interlock together to make a stunning necklace or ring. The class has two options: make a Russian Mini necklace or make a Russian Ring which can also be worn as a maxi necklace. The class can be taught together as the process is the same for both.

- how to size your fingers (if making the maxi)
- shaping and forming the rings
- sawing to create the perfect join
- soldering
- how to interlock the rings
- filing and sanding for a beautiful finish
- adding texture
- polishing

The price for both options includes the sterling silver required to make 5 silver rings (I will have a selection for you to choose from) and a 16 inch or 18 inch sterling silver snake chain for the mini necklace, I will have chains available to buy on the day for the maxi if required.

You may wish to bring an apron to wear, although its not essential. If you need reading glasses, remember to bring them, the class involves lots of close up work.

We will have a tea and coffee break and some yummy homemade cake.

Where and when is the course?

In my Blackford, Edinburgh workshop in EH9. You can park outside in the private lane to the front of my workshop. If traveling by public transport buses 24 & 9 stop two minutes away. Buses from the centre of Edinburgh take about 20 minutes and run around every 15 minutes.

Who is your tutor

I have been working full time as a jeweller since 2009 and enjoy teaching as a way to support my practice. In my previous career, I worked in a role conducting training courses and I love the ability to combine both skill sets. I keep my classes small at a maximum of 4 participants so I have time to support you individually. I like my classes to be a fun, informative and creative environment, I hope you enjoy your workshop!

Final information

After booking you will receive email confirmation and joining instructions. Should you need to cancel your booking a full refund will be provided provided you cancel 6 weeks prior to the date of your course, after this you would receive a 50% refund or an alternative date could be agreed if available. No refunds are available for cancellations within two weeks of the course date.

The exception to the above! If you have flu / cold / covid symptoms, please contact me and we can swap your class to another date.
